Want a Recession Proof Business?
ByIf you’ve got 8 minutes, this post will give you a quick read on the first steps of developing a recession proof business.
My last query on this keyword shows that approximately 27 people per day are searching for ‘recession proof business’. If you go to http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/ you can simply type in the words ‘recession proof business’ or ‘recession proof’ and you will see what I’m talking about (take a moment and do this if you would). After doing that (assuming that may have been your first time using a tool like that), you now know how marketers like myself begin to get a pulse on the marketplace. Once you know what questions people are asking and what solutions they are looking for, you can begin determining what questions you need to answer in order to provide value. That, sir or ma’am, is one of the most important steps to developing a recession proof business.
A major key to developing a recession proof business is to provide value to your market. To do this, you have to know what your market is looking for. Now…it gets a bit more complicated than a basic keyword analysis, but that is a great starting point. In the online world, everything begins with keyword research. What you’ll want to keep in mind when it comes to keyword research…there are free tools and paid tools, and you often get what you pay for.
The thing you want to do next is to get into the mind of your suspect or prospect. More specifically, you have to understand the conversation that is going on inside of their heads when they are searching. The best way to understand the conversation is to…get into the conversation with them. A great way to do that is to ASK them, “What are you looking for?”, or “What is your single most important question about (the subject matter you are interested in)?”
For instance, click on this link, and you will see the site that I use that allows me to survey coaches, consultants, and independent professionals who are in my target market. Once I get a few hundred responses to this survey, I can begin to know what the market is really looking for. At that point, it’s not hard to provide value because I’ve let the market tell me what they need. In addition to knowing what I need to provide, I am building a list of potential clients if my survey page is set up to capture names and email addresses.
Anyone can develop a recession proof business by taking this approach. The beautiful part of this is…if you go through the survey process and get very few responses, that might be an indicator that there may not be enough demand for you to pursue building a business around that idea. Isn’t it better to know that before you spend any more money on developing the idea? That’s why market research is so important.
Again, the key to developing a recession proof business is to:
1. Identify your market
2. ASK them what problems they want to eliminate (and are willing to pay for)
3. Build value around the issues they reveal in the survey process
If you are willing to go through those steps, you too can build a recession proof business. If you want to know just how powerful this survey process is…my mentor, Alex Mandossian, made over $420,000. in a twelve month period from home by using this survey process. Click here to get a free report (at the bottom of the next page) that will show you just how the process works.
